Little cards. A whole lot of stories.

When Christmas is close, the tempting question is “Can I still order?” A better question is “What can I give without making a promise about a parcel?” A personal photo gift can still feel thoughtful, but urgency should not turn an estimate into a guarantee.

Separate the gift idea from the delivery date

Start with the country where the gift will be delivered. Check the shipping page for current delivery information and any verified order-by dates published for that destination. Keep the recipient’s address ready so you can review the right details before ordering.

Read the shipping information, check the destination and review the estimate shown before paying. Choose whether you would like to play online during your visit, give printed cards, or enjoy both as part of the present.

Make a useful photo shortlist first

Gather the original pictures into one folder. If you are asking relatives, set a small, realistic request: one or two clear pictures each, with permission to use them. Avoid spending your remaining time chasing a perfect image that may not exist.

For a small deck, choose 15 distinct photographs. Include different scenes and check that faces are visible. Pictures from a phone are fine when they are clear; screenshots with captions or dark, blurry images deserve a second look.

Choose an honest alternative

If a printed gift may be late, you could:

  • Create a deck and play online together during a visit.
  • Write a personal note explaining a planned photo gift, without claiming it is already ordered.
  • Invite the recipient to help choose the final pictures.
  • Give a handwritten story alongside a photograph you already have.

A promise of time together can be meaningful, but only offer what you can genuinely arrange. Do not describe an informal note as an official gift voucher.

Check before pressing the order button

Confirm the card count, selected photographs, delivery address, market price and shipping charge. Language and destination are separate: reading in English does not automatically mean US pricing, and reading in Dutch does not determine where a parcel will go.

Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Sinterklaas can bring the same planning problem. Use the same approach: verify the local occasion date, leave a margin and be clear when a delivery promise is unavailable.

Let the presentation do some of the work

A short explanation of why you chose the photographs often matters more than elaborate wrapping. Leave room for the recipient to add their own favourite picture later in the selection process.
